Welcome to Tewantin.com.au

Tewantin is a suburb in the sunshine coast. It is full of fun things to do, whether you are a tourist or a local. Tewantin also has an interesting history, dating back to the 1800s. At around 1869, Tewantin was a town which was rich in gold, fish and timber which offered many jobs. If you look at Tewantin you can see that it has a lot of trees which would have been great for the timber industry, it also is the home of many rivers which are full of fish, which was great for the fishing industry.

Today, Tewantin is a popular area for tourists and people looking for somewhere to live. The fishing industry is still going strong, although the trees are more protected than they were 150 years ago, which causes the inhabitation of lots of wildlife, such as koalas, kangaroos and goannas, which gives tourists the opportunity to see some of Australia's native wildlife without having to go into some of the more rural towns.
